We’re hiring! Are you passionate about helping to build community dedicated to civility and respect? Do you really love planning events? And perhaps even making pigs fly? What about a flexible schedule with summers off? You’re in luck! The Village Square is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist. Part events-guru and part administrative-support, we are looking for a community enthusiast who’s got the skills to keep our grassroots organization in motion.

Flexible and Fun: Based in Tallahassee, FL, this position will be full-time in the fall and spring with summers and school holidays off. Work day schedules are flexible and evening hours will be necessary during event nights.

Salary: $20-$25k, no benefits.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Community Engagement Specialist will be a champion for civility by:

Celebrating Members
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Being willing to go the extra mile(s) for our members and sponsors
• Assisting with maintaining the contact management and donor database systems
• Communicating with current TVS members about their membership status/benefits
• Assisting with the membership program, including attracting and processing new members, maintaining renewal system, and pursuing lapsed members
• Organizing and processing regular member mailings
• Preparing a monthly membership report (to track current/lapsed and expired members)

Being the Event Captain
• Being incredibly organized and detail-oriented for all programming and events
• Coordinating and managing event logistics before, during and after events
• Serving as the primary organizational contact to event vendors and service providers
• Assisting with marketing and social media for all TVS events
• Utilizing an “Event and Marketing Checklist” for all programs
• Maintaining and updating all attendee data for all events into the main database
• Managing the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, supervision and retention of our awesome volunteers (includes high-fives + fist bumps)

Maintaining Momentum
• Providing support for development efforts and associated management
• Assisting with publicizing and social media of our activities, programs and mission
• Providing general administrative support when needed
• Assisting with organizational records and documentation
• Assisting with event webpage maintenance and updates
• Assisting with execution of grant and contractual obligations
• Maintaining the project management structure and ensuring its execution
• Being open to learning new skills
• Displaying a “can-do” attitude and demonstrated concern for the team’s success

• Knowing when to work hard and when to play hard

We will love it if you:

• Have 2-4 years of community, marketing, and/or event-planning experience
• Have 2-3 years of project management experience
• Feel comfortable with technology and social media (FB, Twitter, Pin, + IG)
• Know your way around Google Drive, Dropbox, Basecamp, and Box (or can’t wait to learn)
• Like our quirky sense of humor
• Are extraordinarily organized
• Can effectively priority-set and implement multiple projects with detailed execution
• Believe in the power of gratitude
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate strength in perception of the environment around you
• Have strong attention to detail and problem solving
• Would sing our successes and efforts from the mountaintops
• Bonus points: Have been involved with The Village Square previously
