Our Town

Tallahassee Town Hall 2026

Let’s do democracy
Date and TimeThursday, May 7, 2026 @ 6:00 pm
LocationWFSU Studio & Online

There’s nothing more quintessentially American than a town hall meeting. Within its ethos is the important founding principle that political foes must grudgingly become partners as they engage conflicting ideas in order to govern. It’s the old-fashioned spirit of rolling up our sleeves and just getting it done. We hope you’ll join us to be a part of it either live in the WFSU studio or online.

Our annual town hall hosts commissioners from the City of Tallahassee and Leon County to have a constructive (and neighborly) discussion about where we are, where we’re going, and what challenges might be out there on the horizon. The conversation will be facilitated by the one and only Tom Flanigan of WFSU, and powered by the Tallahassee Democrat and Leadership Tallahassee.

Can’t make the event in person? Submit your questions before the event here.

The program also will be available via Zoom, and live streamed at live.wfsu.org, YouTube, and Facebook.

As always, we will be following and enforcing our Rules for Civil Discourse as follows:

All Village Square programs are forums for CIVIL conversations. This means no cat calls, whistles, yelling, team clapping, or other intentionally disruptive behavior is tolerated. For this we have our civility bell. The bell will be rung if behavior moves outside the realm of civility, signaling the need to refrain from such behavior. Repeat offenders will be kindly asked to leave the event. Signs or banners also are not allowed at these events. Audience questions are accepted during the designated Q&A portion of the program via written submission only. Pens and paper are provided for this purpose.

Notes about Registration and Room Capacity for In-person Attendance:

All in-person attendees are required to register. Advance registration is encouraged as space is limited and admittance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, starting with those who are pre-registered. We will do our best to accommodate those who have not pre-registered as space allows. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Onsite parking will be provided for those attending the event.

The Town Hall is the seat of power for a free people

Oyez, oyez, oyez. Join the Town Hall.

Despite the differences between our founders – and the odds against them – in this new country the king was no longer the seat of power. It was now the humble town hall. It’s now our job to govern.
