Local Color Ground Rules

We get lots of requests after events to share our ground rules.

We get lots of requests after events to share our ground rules. Here you go!

Guiding wisdom for our Local conversations:

Our goal isn’t to agree. It’s to disagree and still keep talking.

Assume good intentions by others.

Use of the wrong words is allowed (imperfection doesn’t make you a racist).

Don’t come to offend.  Temporarily overlook offense.

Disagreement and hate are not the same thing.

Practice humility, no matter how wrong someone is and how right you are, there’s still something you can learn.

Extend undeserved favor to each other.

Listen to understand.

And a point of advice:

Insulting those you disagree with isn’t persuasive

And maybe the most important thing:

What happens at Local Color stays at Local Color.
